OUR VISION
EdTech Humber’s vision is for each member to achieve a fully digital and inclusive campus that benefits staff, students and the wider community.
Our digital aspirations will be underpinned by FOUR key objectives:
To improve digital capabilities.
We have already made significant strides in improving our digital capabilities. The initial priority has been to establish our starting point so we can begin to plan how we can achieve the vision for the college by 2025. We have adopted the use of Teams as our Digital Learning Environment and we are the only sixth form college to be awarded Microsoft Showcase College status. Nineteen members of staff have already achieved MIE (Microsoft Innovative Educator), MIE Expert and Microsoft Certified Educator status and we have a well-established ‘Tech Team’ driving developments forward.
To achieve this objective, we will:
Immerse our students in hybrid learning experiences that ensure they are fully equipped to meet the demands of future learning and employment opportunities.
Encourage and support a culture of innovation.
Provide wide and varied CPD opportunities for our staff that will support their work and lead the way in digital training and skills.
Benchmark our performance against other digital leaders, both in the public and private sector, to ensure we maintain a leading role in digital developments within education.
To ensure the digital offer is accessible to all.
The use of Teams has allowed staff to produce resources that are inclusive and accessible to all students. Recognising not all our students can afford to purchase IT equipment for home working, we have established a laptop loan scheme and are launching a lease/buy scheme.
To achieve this objective, we will:
Put inclusion and accessibility at the heart of our work, ensuring that no student is left behind.
Communicate our offer to all stakeholders focusing on students, future students and parents so they are aware of our offer and how it will improve outcomes for students.
Make available sufficient laptops and mobile devices to ensure all students can work remotely and independently.
Make sure staff and students receive the training required to allow them to maximise the benefits of our systems.
To enhance the learning environment.
We have invested in our IT infrastructure and facilities over the last two years and have a five-year IT development investment plan that will future proof our learning environment. Recent investment has led to improved Wi-Fi connectivity across the site, as well as the creation of additional IT facilities in classrooms and other learning spaces. We have also started the planned upgrade of teaching aids in classrooms to improve the learning experience.
To achieve this objective, we will:
Create classrooms and learning spaces that support students to work independently.
Create classrooms and teaching spaces that support staff to be innovative.
Align our IT infrastructure to the needs of staff and students.
Use digital technologies to enhance the student experience.
Develop and implement policies that support our vision.
To work smarter and collaboratively.
We have invested in software and hardware to improve the quality and efficiency of our administration and support functions, which has resulted in savings in staff time allowing more focus on student outcomes. We have been awarded DfE Demonstrator status, which has allowed us to share our outstanding digital practice with others schools and colleges.
To achieve this objective, we will:
Improve our operational effectiveness across all aspects of the College business.
Take advantage of digital technologies to improve communication with our stakeholders.
Share our wealth of experience with the wider education community.
