“We started our digital transformation at Wilberforce College in January 2020 with the aim to make our curriculum fully inclusive by leveraging digital technologies both in and out of the classroom.

This gave the College a significant advantage during the National lockdown in March. It enabled us to focus our efforts on developing positive teacher and student interactions in the digital world.

We are now well placed to assist other institutions after being awarded DfE Demonstrator status.

It is our hope that by building trusting relationships with other school leaders, we can ensure that no student in our area suffers loss of learning as a result of the pandemic.”

“We are the first and only sixth form in the UK to be recognised as a Microsoft Showcase College and the only DfE Demonstrator College for EdTech in Hull and the East Riding.

Our aim is to improve the life chances of all students in our region through high quality leadership, guidance and training.

We are launching an EdTech Hub for the Humber region focusing on regional vision and strategy and Infrastructure.

Via this hub we will work with any educators wishing to engage to improve EdTech skills and confidence.”

“Wilberforce’s ‘teachers helping teachers’ approach is absolutely vital, so much so that I ensured they had the opportunity discuss it with the Chair of Parliament’s Education Select Committee, Robert Halfon MP, to bring national attention to their work.

I believe in their strategy because I know they are determined to tackle the digital divide, so brutally exposed by Covid-19, and are committed to leaving no child behind.

We cannot allow the progress in digital learning and engagement made during the past fifteen months to be wasted, and I will be following Wilberforce’s progress with supportive anticipation.”

- Karl Turner MP, Labour Member of Parliament for Hull East
